POS Setup for First Time Use
This document assumes that you have a POSPi, a CardPi, and at least one machine connected via HDLC.
1. Login as the Generic User Account
Login for the first time using ‘000000‘. Navigate to ‘Create an Account’ which will allow you to create your Admin level account. This account must have a valid email address and phone number. Enter in your 6 digit PIN and verify. Once this account has been created you will now need to make it active, and unlock the admins login ability. Press A to define as ‘Admin’, and then tap the padlock to make the user active. Log out and then back in as the new admin user to continue.
2. Associate Your Location
Navigate to System Settings > Backup and Enter your web.trueroute.com email and password. Once logged in used the selector and define which location you are associating this POS system with. Once the correct location is selected use the green button to associate as a new installation, or the blue button if this is an already active location getting a replacement POS.
3. Validate your connection settings
Navigate to System Settings > Connection and verify that your desired time zone, current time and date, the servicer’s email address are correctly defined. The Meter Out and Coin Switch values should be set to 1 by default. Verify that your Polling Timeout is set to 200, and that the HDLC Connection has ‘Use RS232’ selected. Save.
4. Verify Your User Configuration
Navigate to Location Settings > Users. You should see only one account there–the one that you are currently logged in as. Check the settings below the user entry. If you want to allow users to remotely send cash to a machine, activate ‘Cashier Role is available to assign Cash’. If this location does want to allow Holds and Player cards make sure that ‘Cashier does simple redemption only’ is deactivated. By default the system is set to use dollar bill values for cash inputs. If a ’10 key’ pad is preferred, then make sure that ‘Enable Keypad’ is activated. You can also define how long the system stays inactive before automatically logging out the current user. If no value is defined, then they will never log out.
If desired, you can define works Shifts to enable more granular reporting.
5. Add your Machine(s)
Navigate to Location Settings > Machines. You will need to know your machines’ HDLC address as configured on your Fledgling/BLink/Runt. Enter the first machines’ HDLC address in the first field, your machines’ Serial/reference number in the second, and then a Game name that is easily recognizable for the end user. Once all three fields have entries, press ‘Add Item’. A new entry will appear below. If this entry is blue, then the connection has been made. If it is grey, then it was accepted, but there is no device actually found at that HDLC address. Double check your assigned machine ID, and if needed delete the entry using the ‘x’ on the right. Once you have a Blue entry, press the gear icon for that machine.
A popup with machine details will appear on the screen. At the top use the drop-down selector to see the available CardPi units that are available on the network. Select your desired unit. If you are unsure as to which CardPi you are selecting, press the ‘target’ icon next to a CardPis MAC address. This will cause the connected touchscreen to blink in yellow, allowing for easy identification. Once the desired CardPi has been determined, tap on it’s MAC address. Here you can update the Game Name and HDLC Address if needed. Leave the Multiplier set to 1.
CardPi Notes
When a Card pi is first powered on: About 18 seconds after first power on you will see the Touchscreen go through it’s initialization process.
- Stage 1 – Boot sequence should last about 10 seconds
- Stage 2 – Card reader initialization should be near instant
- Stage 3 – Network join should take about 6 seconds
Once connected you will see the default ‘Insert your card to play’ message.
6. Configure your Redemptions
Navigate to Location Settings > Redemptions. Here you can add new or remove the default redemption destinations. By pressing and holding the blue box you can drag and drop these into the order that you wish them to appear for the cashier. If you want Holds to be used in your location, make sure that they are activated. If these holds are to be visible on the location history, press the ‘eye’ icon to make them visible. Enter in the amount of hours that a session is to be available to be redeemed. by default this is set to one day (24 hours). If the location wishes to have the most basic auto-redemption mode used, toggle the ‘Basic Mode’ to On. If the customers information is to be asked for before using a club card, verify that the Info Required is set to On. In an HDLC-only based locationthe ‘Use Handcount’ should be set to Off. Make sure you press save before continuing.
7. Configure your Receipt
Navigate to Location Settings > Receipt. When you associated the location with their online account, the locations details were pulled and populated here. If any public information needs to be changed or removed from being printed, you can do that here. Any changes made here are not reflected on the TrueRoute server, and are a local override only. Make sure you press save before continuing.
8. Report Configuration
Navigate to Location Settings > Reports. By default the ‘Location Day’ begins at midnight. If this needs to be adjusted to account for local bookkeeping, input the new time here. The week start time and day can also be specified. The locations manager or owner can have an activity report automatically mailed to them, so make sure the correct recipients email is specified here. In order to activate the reports, tap the red ‘Print’ and ‘Send’ buttons.
Below the email address you will see the ‘Current Share Rate’ fields. Change these to the share percentages that this location actually participates at. On the left is the locations’ share, the center is the operators share and the right field is to account for any license fees that might be incurred. This is not common, and an empty field is normal. The ‘Service Type’ needs to be adjusted for what region this system is being installed in. If the location is in Georgia, select ‘TP’ in the dropdown. Anywhere else means that the system, is collected upon, so the service type is ‘Mixed’. Once you now press Save the system should be ready to operate.
