Simple redemptions

Standard system mode

When a player has cashed out from their game play, the session is automatically sent to the POS unit. On the main screen a new ‘bar’ will appear containing the sessions’ details.

  • Source Machine ID#
  • The date the cashout event was made
  • The time the cashout event was made
  • The value of the cashout event.

All that the cashier needs to do in order to launch the redemption tool is to tap the desired session. Once done, they will be presented with three options

Transfer

This will allow you to transfer the funds to a new machine that is also connected to the POS. when selected the user will see that the full value of the session is already entered as the requested value (‘split transfers’ will be covered later). All the user needs to do at this point is to press submit in the upper right of the screen. Then, the user will need to choose which machine the funds will be transferred to. All they need to do is to select the machine ID# and press submit. Now the user is given one last change to change their mind before final submission.

A receipt will be printed showing that the value from one session was indeed transferred to another machine.

Redeem

After selecting a session from the main screen a user can select the Redeem option. When selected the user will be presented with different ‘destinations’ for the funds. All they need to do is to tap the name of a destination (Merchandise, for example) and then enter in the full value of the ticket to be applied to that destination. If they want to clear the value from that field, they need only to tap the red X icon on that line.

Once the full value has been entered, the user need only press Submit in the upper right corner of the screen, and then confirm. A receipt will be printed showing the value and destination selected.

Hold

Normally a session is only valid for 24 hours before it expires and is non-redeemable. In the case that a user wants to extend this expiry period for later usage, they can opt to Hold a session.

To perform this action the cashier needs only to tap the session on the main screen, and then select Hold. After they confirm a receipt will print containing a large QR code as well as all of the session’s details.

Once this ticket is in hand the plaster can return at a later date, have the cashier scan the ticket, and they can redeem or transfer at their will.

TITO system mode

From the cashiers perspective, they normally will only access a session via a receipt that is printed directly from a game machine. The ticket format also contains a code to scan but this code is a static length barcode instead of a QR. In order to trigger the redemption process the cashier need only tap the Scan icon in the upper right of the home screen, and to scan the receipt.

If the receipt is recognized by the system the same cashout processes can be used as above.

Split redemptions

In the scenario where a player wants to redeem their award for a variety of redemption destinations, the process is much the same as before. The cashier will tap the session in question, select Redeem, and then view the list of options that are available.

The full value will automatically populate inside the top most option in the list. The user can now select any other destination, and enter a smaller value than the total. The smaller amount is deducted from the top line total. They can now select another destination and enter a smaller value in there as well.

For example: The session is worth $20.00. By default the top line is set to ‘Merchandise’ and the full $20.00 is assigned there as the destination. However, the cashier selects Lottery and enters $5.00. Now, Merchandise is listed as $15.00 and lottery at $5.00, for a total of $20.00.

The cashier can tap another option, like Gas, and enter $5.00 into there as well. The top line will adjust to this reallocation of value automatically as well. Once they do this the customer is ready to be cashed out for:

  • Merchandise – $10.00
  • Lottery – $5.00
  • Gas – $5.00
  • Total cashout: $20.00

When submitted a receipt prints detailing all of the destinations and the values assigned.

Split transfers

Much the same way that Split Redemptions are handled, a split transfers allows a customer to transfer a portion of their session to another machine, while redeeming another portion for goods/cash (cash is dependent on the local laws, of course).

When a cashier selects a session and then presses the Transfer button, they are given the option to enter in a lower amount than the full session value. The value they enter will be assigned to another machine, and the remainder will be redeemed just like usual.

For Example: The customer cashed out for $100.00, but doesn’t want to quit playing just yet. They go to the cashier and ask for $50.00 to be placed on Machine #3, but they want to cashout $20.00 for food and $30.00 in scratch off lotto tickets.

  • The cashier selects the $100.00, and then Transfer.
  • The cashier enters $50.00 as the transfer value, leaving $50.00 to be redeemed.
  • The cashier selects the target machine to receive the funds
  • The cashier then is redirected to the redemption step where they enter $20.00 in food, and $30.00 in lotto.
  • The cashier submits. $50.00 is sent to the machine, and the final receipt prints with all the details described.

Redeeming Holds

When a session is on hold it is essentially ‘just sitting there’ waiting to be reactivated and redeemed. When a customer presents a hold ticket to the cashier, then all the cashier needs to do is to press the Scan button in the upper right on the home screen. The built-in 2D scanner will activate, and all the cashier needs to do is to get the QR code near the light being projected.

Once the code is recognized the screen will change into that sessions’ redemption process, where the cashier can redeem or transfer as desired.

If the code has expired then the cashier will be informed that the session is no longer accessible.

If the manager chooses to make a good faith effort with the customer, a manager level user can go to the Man Menu > Activity > History and find the expired session, and reset it. To reset an expired session all that a manager needs to do is to double-tap on the Event # (the first number on a transaction line in the history) and a dialog will appear, where they can choose to reset the session.

Once that is done the session can be rescanned and redeemed as usual.

Player Cards

If a player chooses to redeem their awards to their Player Card, then when the cashier selects a redemption destination, they choose ‘Account’ from the destination list. A session does not need to be entirely assigned to the card–doing a partial redemption to a card is valid.

Once the destination has been included in a redemption and the cashier submits the final ‘Yes, I mean it’ click, then they will be prompted to swipe a card. This can be a new or existing card to the system. If there is any incomplete information about the account (name, phone) then they will be prompted to complete the information before continuing. If the customer refuses to provide this information, then it can be skipped.

In case a card is not recognized by the card reader (damage to the magnetic strip), then instead of swiping the cashier can activate the scanner instead in order to register the card with the system.

Reprinting

In case a ticket is damaged, or a printer error, or a duplicate is needed, any redemption can be reprinted. When a user goes to Activity > History and then double-taps on the “Event Number” at the beginning of a row, then the user will be prompted as to whether they would like to print a new copy.

  • All cashouts are reprintable
  • Valid Hold receipts can be reprinted
  • Expired Holds will ask if you want to restore the hold
  • Pending sessions will not print anything
